Skokie Commended for Giving Divvy Cold Shoulder
Resident gives village thumbs up for not "drinking the Divvy lemonade" and ignoring Chicago's bike-share program.

SKOKIE, IL - A Skokie resident is applauding the village, not for what they did but for what they did not do when it comes to taking part in Chicago’s Divvy bike-share program.
“Kudos to Skokie!,” Earl Weiss wrote in a letter to the editor for the Chicago Tribune. “Unlike Evanston, which recently drank the Divvy lemonade, Skokie officials reported they will not be participating in the Divvy debacle.”
Weiss said Skokie’s participation in the program would be “a source of shame and embarrassment” for a village with financial issues.

The Divvy bike-share program began a few years ago in the city of Chicago and recently expanded to include more locations in the city, as well as some in Evanston and Oak Park.
Weiss claims Chicago has spent about $36 million in taxpayer funds on the endeavor.
