Skokie Couple Sues Contractor Over Bad Foundation
The Sorkins have experienced flooding and water seepage at their Skokie home.

A Skokie couple is suing the contractor that built their home after several issues have arose in relation to significant water seepage and flooding.
According to the Cook County Record, Barry and Lisa Sorkin filed a claim on September 21 in Cook County Circuit Court against Viorel Cordos and Duran Concrete Inc. The claim alleges breach of contract, negligence and fraud.
The Sorkins claim they hired Cordos, who hired Duran Concrete to build the home’s foundation and install basement waterproofing. But after moving into the house, the couple have experienced issues in both 2014 and 2015.

“Subsequent investigations have allegedly shown no waterproof membrane was used on the foundation and that proper drains were not installed on the property,” according to the Record. “These defects have forced the plaintiffs to make significant repairs.”
The Sorkins are seeking damages of more than $50,000.
