Skokie Crime: Armed Robbery, Saturday Spree Of Catalytic Converter Cutting

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity, and an arrest is not an indication of guilt. Criminal charges represent merely accusations and all defendants are presumed innocent until their guilt is established in a court of law.
ARMED ROBBERY
A man and a woman were entering the vestibule of their building around midnight on the morning of April 24 when two men robbed them at gunpoint on the 4600 block of Washington Street. The first robber was described as African American with a dark complexion and noticeable acne, 20-25 years of age, medium build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans. The second robber was described as an approximately 20-25 years of age African American man with a thin build who was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

BATTERY
Shortly after 7 p.m. on April 23, an person described as a muscular, 200 pound, Middle Eastern man wearing a Michigan sweatshirt, camouflage shorts and gym shoes repeatedly punched a man in the face and punched a woman in the forehead after the man confronted him about cutting in the checkout line at the Walmart on Touhy.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY
A person in custody spit in the face of a Skokie Police Officer at 7:20 a.m. on April 25 at the Skokie Police Department station.
BURGLARY
A victim stated that someone entered his unlocked garage in the 8800 block of Keeler Avenue sometime last September or October and stole his blue Felt brand racing bicycle.
BURGLARY
Shortly after 3 a.m. on April 25, a man described as approximately 225-250 pounds and wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants, white shoes, white gloves, and what appeared to be a black mask kicked a glass panel on the north overhead door at the BP at 8001 Skokie Boulevard. The man gained entry through the broken panel, went off camera and then exited the garage via the broken panel. The subject walked towards the west alley of the 8000 block of Keating and went off camera view.
BURGLARY
A man described as white or Middle Eastern and wearing what appeared to be a rain jacket, entered the Schaefer's Liquors store in the 9900 block of Gross Point Road by unknown means. He was then seen walking around inside the store on surveillance footage for several minutes.
BURGLARY
Sometime between approximately 11 a.m. and noon on May 1, someone used an unknown tool to pry open a service door on the 4800 block of Conrad Street.
BURGLARY
Between 12:30 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. on May 1, a man knocked on the door of an 88-year-old elderly victim who was home alone on the 5200 block of Harvard Terrace. The man, described as white, 40-50 years old, 240-250 pounds, with black hair and a gray sweatshirt, said he was a neighbor and a roofer and that he was there to fix a leak. The victim`s daughter authorized the work and the victim let the burglar in while the other man stayed outside. The second man was described as 40-50 years old, 240-250 pounds, with a bald head, a gray sweatshirt and possibly wearing overalls. Their vehicle was described as a gray, two-door, late model pickup truck.
BURGLARY
On the evening of April 29, someone climbed an outside storage unit and gained access to a second story window of a house on the 7900 block of Crawford Avenue. The burglar stole numerous items including jewelry.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
The paint on the driver’s side of the victims’ vehicle was scratched with a sharp object on the 7900 block of Park Avenue between April 21 at 8:00 p.m. and April 22 at 9:30 a.m.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Video surveillance shows a male subject holding a brick and wearing dark pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt walk into camera view from the west side of the BP at 3301 Dempster Street, on April 25 at 3:42 a.m. The subject walks to the main doors and appears to check if they are locked. The subject then walks back westbound toward the west end of the building and throws the brick at the window. The subject then walks away westbound, from the same direction he came.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone tried to remove a victim’s license plate registration sticker and damaged it on the 4800 block of Elm Street, between April 25 at 3:30 p.m. and April 26 at 5:30 p.m.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
Someone painted several letters in blue spray paint on the wall of the parking garage at Old Orchard Mall on April 22 between 5:00 p.m. and 5:05 p.m.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An apparently male person exposed his buttocks after knocking on the front window of the house to gain the resident’s attention on the 9400 block of Central Park Avenue, on April 29 at 2:12 a.m. He was described as 30-39 years of age, possibly white or Hispanic with a medium build and light complexion, dark hair, wearing a black and white plaid shirt and blue jeans.
FORGERY
Someone managed to forge the signature of a victim on the 9300 block of Hamlin Avenue and fraudulently cash a check between 12:00 a.m. on February 27 and 12:00 a.m. on April 13.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone attempted to fraudulently obtain credit in the name of a victim on the 10000 block of Lacrosse Avenue, between April 13 at 9:00 a.m. and April 20 at 9:00 a.m.
MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT
Two thieves gained access to a locked Honda on the 5200 block of Oakton Street shortly after 1 a.m. on April 30. They fled westbound down the alley in the stolen car.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their vehicle on the 4800 block of Fargo Avenue, between April 28 at 4:40 p.m. and April 29 at 8:00 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their vehicle on the 4900 block of Kirk Street, between April 28 at 4:00 p.m. and April 29 at 9:14 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter from their vehicle on the 4900 block of Kirk Street, between April 28 at 4:00 p.m. and April 29 at 11:30 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter and other parts from their vehicle on the 5300 block of George Street, between April 28 at 6:00 p.m. and April 29 at 11:00 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter and other parts from their vehicle on the 8400 block of Linder Court, between April 28 at 10:00 p.m. and April 29 at 8:30 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter and other parts from their vehicle on the 5000 block of Howard Street, between April 28 at 10:30 p.m. and April 29 at 11:00 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter and other parts from their vehicle on the 7700 block of Long Avenue, between April 28 at 9:00 p.m. and April 29 at 9:30 a.m.
- Someone stole the victim’s catalytic converter and from the vehicle on the 5100 block of Mulford Street, between April 21 at 12:00 a.m. and April 30 at 3:00 p.m.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone fraudulently used the social security number for employment purposes of a victim on the 8600 block of Laramie Avenue, between April 10 at 12:00 a.m. and April 28 at 9:27 a.m.
FRAUD
Someone fraudulently used the credit card information of a victim on the 8100 block of Knox Avenue between April 26 at 9:55 p.m. and April 27 at 10:00 p.m. to make a purchase at an area restaurant.
PANERA THEFTS
Between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 22 at the Panera Bread in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard, a victim's wallet was stolen from her purse as it hung on the back of her chair. Her credit cards were later used in fraudulent transactions at Target.
Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on April 22 at the Panera Bread in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard, a victim’s wallet was stolen from her purse while she ate with her family. Her stolen credit cards were immediately used at Nordstrom’s and Macy’s in the amount of $3,800.
THEFT
People stole items from the Mariano's in the 3300 block Touhy Avenue, on April 18 between 12:45 p.m. and 12:49 p.m. by selecting items and exiting the fire door.
THEFT
On April 25 between 1:00 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., someone stole the victim's new gas grill while she was moving into her new residence on the 9700 block of Woods Drive,.
THEFT
The victim’s jacket containing his driver’s license, credit cards, and cell phone was stolen from his unlocked locker in the men’s locker room at the X-Sport Fitness in the 3400 block of Touhy Avenue on April 25 between 7:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. A wallet was also stolen from the same locker room on the same day, police were told.
THEFT
Copper wires for power service were stolen from the 3800 block of Oakton Street, between April 29 at 2:00 p.m. and April 30 at 5:30 a.m. from the rear of the victim’s building.
Someone also stole the power lines to a business on the 3900 block of Oakton Street at 3:21 a.m. on May 1.
RETAIL THEFT
Two women described as Hispanic stole two pairs of shorts and three t-shirts after one of them distracted the employees while the other hid the stolen merchandise in a stroller before the two walked out of the Footlocker store at 4999 Old Orchard Center on April 22 between 8 p.m. and 8:32 p.m.

Two men, described as African American and about 30-40 years old, walked into the Gap store in the Old Orchard Mall and stole several pairs of women's yoga pants before fleeing the area southbound on Skokie Boulevard in a light blue Toyota Camry shortly after 1 p.m. on April 30.
VARIOUS ARRESTS
Ali K. Hamadi, 21, of 9400 block of Kenton Avenue, was arrested for retail theft at 4909 Old Orchard Mall, on April 20.
Alexandra C. Alvarez, 23, of the 5000 block of W.Concord in Chicago, was arrested for a Cook County warrant for retail theft, at 7409 McCormick Boulevard, on April 20.
Willie Lee Biggs, 18, of the 5800 block of W. Superior in Chicago, was arrested for retail theft at 5481 Touhy Avenue, on April 20.
Isiah D. Moseley, 18, of the 8100 block of S. Exchange Avenue in Chicago, was arrested for retail theft at 5485 Touhy Avenue, on April 20.
Mark L. Printis, 55, of the 2000 block of Oakton Street in Evanston, was arrested for a Skokie Police Department warrant for failure to appear in court on April 22.
Alex Zavin, 38, of the 9000 block of Niles Center Road, was arrested for a warrant for failure to appear for a criminal trespass to land charge on April 23.
Reem M. Aldhahiry, 30, of the 4900 block of Mulford Street, was arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer at 7300 Niles Center Road, on April 24.
Sarah Feldman, 35, of the 200 block of Glascow in Schaumburg, was arrested for delivery of methamphetamine, video game gambling and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 3700 block of W. Lawrence in Chicago on April 25.
Alprofel Tiu, 40, of the 4900 block of Jarvis Avenue, was arrested for delivery of methamphetamine, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, video game gambling and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 3700 block of W. Lawrence on April 25.
Eduardo Deguzman, 53, of the 2700 block of Hidden Glen Drive in Waukegan, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine on the 3700 block of W. Lawrence on April 25.
Rodolfo Angeles, 66, of the 3700 block W. Lawrence in Chciago, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 3700 block of West Lawrence on April 25.
Tabitha F. Gordon, 25, of the 3500 block of S. Rockwell in Chicago, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia on the 3700 block of West Lawrence on April 25.
Tony Vann, 18, of the 2600 block of S. California Avenue in Chicago, was arrested April 28 at home for an armed robbery that occurred in Skokie on August 3, 2016 on the 4300 block of Oakton Street.
George R. Seaberry, 22, of the 600 block of Mulford Street, was arrested April 29 for a Cook County Warrant for criminal damage to property that issued on January 18.
Donald J. Harris, 47, of the 13400 block of S. Route 59 in Plainfield, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on the 5500 block of Touhy Avenue, on April 29.
Tina M. Kwiatkowski, 46, of the 200 block of Asbury Avenue in Evanston, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on the 8000 block of McCormick Boulevard, on April 29.
