Skokie Crime: Drive-By Anti-Semitism, Kids With Fake Guns

Skokie Police Reports Feb. 18-Feb. 24

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department. It is a record of police activity. Criminal charges can be dropped or reduced and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.

ASSAULT

On Feb. 17 shortly before 6:30 a.m., on the the 7500 block of St. Louis Avenue, a victim was threatened with a knife after a road rage incident.

BURGLARY

On Feb. 18 between midnight and 10:13 a.m. someone entered a storage room and stole numerous construction tools and supplies on the 3400 block of Madison Street.

On Feb. 2 at 5:00 p.m., someone stole several items belonging to a victim on the 9200 block of Ewing Avenue.

Between Feb. 18 at 5:00 p.m. and Feb. 19 at 12:45 p.mm. someone entered a victim's car and stole tools on the 9400 block of Carol Street.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Between Feb. 14 at 9:30 a.m. and Feb. 18 at 9:46 a.m., someone used a cutting tool to cut four zip ties on a victim's fence on the 8900 block of Little Elm Bend.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Feb. 20, shortly before 11:00 a.m., an unidentified 40-50 years old man with light facial hair, described as being black with a thick foreign accent, wearing a green military style hat, dark jacket, and a blue undershirt, pulled over and yelled anti-Semitic remarks at 4 young men playing basketball in the Seneca park at 8720 Keystone Avenue. The man left south on Karlov Avenue driving an early 2000's white SUV with black door handles.

THEFT

Between Feb. 16 at 8:00 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 11:09 a.m., someone cut a lock and stole a victim's bicycle on the 9200 block of Gross Point Road.

On Feb. 17 at 12:26, a victim reported leaving her purse in her shopping cart in the parking lot of Mariano's at 3358 Touhy Avenue. Upon her return the purse had been stolen.

Sometime between Feb. 7 and Feb. 17, someone stole a set of car key and a set of house keys from a cabinet on the 9200 block of Gross Point Road.

On Feb. 17 at 5:00 p.m. a shopping bag with a watch was stolen while the victim shopped at the Barnes and Noble at at 4999 Old Orchard Center.

IDENTITY THEFT

Sometime between Jan. 12 and Jan. 15, someone fraudulently obtained the victim's financial information to obtain credit on the 5000 block of Farwell Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

On Feb. 17 between noon and 6:00 p.m., at the AT&T at 9725 Skokie Boulevard, an unidentified man described as white with blue eyes, wearing a black beanie, beige puffy coat, and light blue jeans stole a pair of Bose headphones.

Between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20 an unknown man stole merchandise from the Walmart at 3626 Touhy Avenue.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On Feb. 21, between 4:50 p.m. and 5:03 p.m., three boys ages 9 to 14, all with skinny builds, wearing dark clothing, caused park patrons to be alarmed and disturbed as one of them brandished a pellet gun, loaded it, and pointed it at several other children.

FORGERY

On Feb. 17 at 8:40 p.m. a woman at the Brookstone at 4999 Old Orchard Center used a fake check to pay for items.

On Feb. 23 between 5:38 p.m. and 5:54 p.m. a woman used a deceased woman's credit information in an attempt to purchase a car from I Cars at 5125 Church Street.

THEFT

Sometime between Jan. 1 and Jan. 28 someone stole a package from a lobby on the 5000 block of Oakton Street.

IDENTITY THEFT

Sometime between Jan. 5 and Feb. 5 someone used a victim's credit information from the 8500 block of St. Louis Avenue and opened fraudulent accounts.

Identity Theft between February 11 at 12:00 a.m. and February 17 at 12:00 a.m. Reported: 02/21/2017

Sometime between Feb. 11 and Feb. 17, someone got the victim's credit information on the 9400 block of Central Park Avenue and opened multiple fraudulent accounts.

Around midnight on Feb. 6, someone fraudulently used the victim's credit information on the 5200 block fo Mulford Street to open two credit accounts in the victim's name.

RETAIL THEFT

On Feb. 23, shortly before 8:00 p.m., two men described as possibly Middle Eastern stole several items from the CVS at 3434 Dempster Street. One was described as 20-25 years old, 150-160 lbs., short black hair, trimmed facial hair, wearing a light gray long sleeve shirt, gray pants, and gray and white Air Jordan shoes. The other was described as 20-25 years old, 180-200 lbs., with short black hair and short facial hair, wearing a blue baseball hat with white writing, a red t-shirt with large white writing, possibly "UIC", long black shorts and gray gym shoes.
