Skokie Crime: Fake Electricians Rob Elder, Pickpockets Snatch Purses, Phones
Skokie police reports March 4-March 10

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department. It is a record of police activity and arrests are not an indication of guilt. Criminal charges can be dropped or reduced and all defendants are innocent until their guilt is established by a court.
BURGLARY
Around 1:30 p.m. on March 3, a white man, 40 years old, wearing a gray jacket and accompanied by a Hispanic man age 60 to 65 committed a ruse burglary against an elderly victim on the 7400 block of Keeler Avenue. The resident believed the two were from an electrical service he had called weeks prior.

Between Feb. 28 and March 3, someone entered an unlocked garage on the 7400 block of Kedvale and stole a bicycle, light fixtures, and personal items.
Between the evening of March 5 and the morning of March 6, someone broke into Woods Mart, 9735 Woods Drive, and stole cigarettes and liquor.

On March 7, shortly after 2:00 p.m., someone discovered the rear door of their apartment forced open on the 8700 block of Kimball Avenue. It was unknown what was stolen.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On March 3 at 11:30 a.m. it was reported someone wrote illegible letters on a traffic signal with black shoe polish at the Illinois Department of Transportation, 7431 Niles Center Road.
THEFT (PICKPOCKETS, SHOPLIFTERS, IDENTITY THEIVES)
Sometime on Jan. 31, a victim's package was stolen on the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue after being delivered to a previous address.
Sometime on March 2, someone used a victim's credit information on the 8900 block of Lincolnwood Drive in an attempt to gain credit.
On March 3 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:46 p.m. someone stole two credit cards from the victim's purse that was hanging on the back of her chair at Barnes and Noble at 5405 Touhy Avenue.
On March 4 between 5:05 a.m. and 5:13 a.m. a 28 to 35 years old man, described as black, fled eastbound in the south alley of the 4700 block of Church Street after not paying his cab fare.
On March 4 between 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m., someone stole a victim's wallet from the locker room at X-Sport Fitness, at 3450 Touhy Avenue,.
On March 5 at 4:23 a.m. a man described as Middle Eastern, 25 to 30 years old, 150-160 lbs., with dark hair, a small mustache, and dark clothing fled on foot from a taxi on the 8000 block of Kilpatrick Avenue without paying for his fare.
Sometime between March 4 at 6:00 p.m. and March 5 at 11:00 a.m. a man stole the victim's wallet from her purse after bumping into her in the store at the Wal-Mart on 3626 Touhy Avenue.
On March 6 around 3:30 p.m., two women, one described as Middle Eastern, one described as black, stole hair care and facial products from the CVS Pharmacy at 3434 Dempster Street.
On March 7 around noon, a black man and woman stole a large number of pieces of clothing from the Victoria's Secret at 4999 Old Orchard Center. The man was described as a dark skinned, 140 -150 lbs., wearing a gray cap, orange sweat shirt and black, form fitting running pants. The woman was described as dark skinned, 90 - 100 lbs., wearing all black clothing.
March 7, between 11:30 a.m. and 2:20 p.m., someone left an unattended bag at the Barnes and Noble at 4999 Old Orchard Center and it was stolen.
March 8, between 11:25 a.m. and 11:44 p.m. someone stole a woman's phone from her pocket in Starbucks at 4999 Old Orchard Center
Sometime between Feb. 26 and March 8, someone stole candles placed at a cemetery plot at Memorial Park Cemetery on 9900 Gross Point Road,
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
On March 3 between 10:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m., someone used a sharp object to damage the pain on a victim's car at Westfield Old Orchard, at 4999 Old Orchard Center.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On March 3 between 7:24 p.m. and 8:20 p.m., a woman called the pharmacy at the Wal-Mart at 3626 Touhy Avenue and threatened violence if a product was not in stock.
Sometime between Feb. 8 and March 3 someone fraudulently used a victim's credit information on the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue to open a Comcast account.
