Skokie Crime: Thieves Target Catalytic Converters, Shoes

Skokie police reports: March 13-March 20

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and all defendants are presumed innocent until their guilt is established in a court of law.

BATTERY

At 9:22 a.m. on March 15, a woman described as 40-45 years of age, tall, slender, African-American, wearing a long brown coat and cream colored hat, struck the victim on the head after she thought she was talking about her at the Swift Train at 5005 Dempster Street.

THEFT FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE

At 9:21 a.m. on March 13, a catalytic converter was reported stolen from MC Glass & Mirror at 3518 Dempster Street.

Around 1:20 a.m. on March 13, someone stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle at the Pita Inn at 4710 Dempster Street.

RETAIL THEFT

Around 2:15 p.m. on March 13, a described as 18-22 years of age, 150-175 lbs., white, dark colored hair, wearing a light gray pullover hoodie with red writing/logo on the front left shoulder, black running style pants, and black gym shoes, entered the DSW Shoe Warehouse at 9601 Skokie Boulevardand stole one pair of Adidas PureBoost gym shoes.

Between 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. on March 14, a young man, 16-20 years of age, described as African-American, wearing a gray baseball cap, gray coat, and gray pant, placed a pair of Nike Airmax shoes, a pair of Jordan shoes, and a baseball cap on the counter then picked them up and ran past the last point of purchase without paying at the Foot Locker at 4999 Old Orchard Center.

BURGLARY

Sometime between Nov. 1, 2016, and March 13, someone used a pry tool to gain entry to two storage units and stole items from the Public Storage at 8050 McCormick Boulevard.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

Around 11:30 a.m. on March 16, someone used spray paint to deface a port-a-potty at the sculpture park at 8700 McCormick Boulevard.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Sometime overnight between March 9 and March 10, someone used a knife to puncture the victim's rear tire on the 10000 block of Old Orchard Court.

Sometime overnight between March 13 and 14, someone used an unknown object to shatter a window at the Mathnasium at 3453 Dempster Street.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

On the evening of March 8, someone used a victim's credit card without permission at the Walmart at 3626 Touhy Avenue.

On the evening of March 13, a woman, described as 40-50 years of age and African-American, wearing a black/gray head scarf and a long black trench coat made an unauthorized purchase at the Apple Store at 4999 Old Orchard Center using a victim's credit card.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT

Sometime between Oct. 28 and Dec. 2 of last year, someone sent a victim on the 8000 block of Keating Avenue several unwanted text messages.

IDENTITY THEFT

Between Feb. 24 and Feb 26, someone used the victim's credit card number to make a purchase at the Victoria's Secret store at 4999 Old Orchard Center.

Between Dec. 4 and Dec. 15 of last year, someone reportedly obtained a the credit card information of a victim on the 4900 block of Foster Street and obtained credit.

THEFT

Sometime between March 3 and March 3, someone stole an iPhone 7 that had been left on the counter at on the 4000 block of Dempster Street.

Around noon on March 9, someone stole the victim's purse while it was left in a shopping cart in one of the cart areas at the Marianos at 3358 Touhy Avenue.

ARRESTS

Ekwunife, Adaora S., 18, 6438 N. Fairfield, Chicago, was arrested for Retail Theft at 3434 Dempster, CVS Pharmacy, on 03/10/2017.

Wallace, Marquita R., 27, 1315 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston, was arrested for Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol, on the 3300 block of Dempster Street, on 03/13/2017.

Parker, Ana L., 34, 5157 N. St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, was arrested for Retail Theft at 3301 Dempster Street, Marianos, on 03/13/2017.

A female juvenile of Skokie was arrested for Retail Theft at 7300 Niles Center Road, on 03/15/2017.Rizarri, Servand Raymund S., 18, 3859 Howard Street, Unit #1R, was arrested for Retail Theft at the 9445 Skokie Boulevard, Marshalls, on 03/16/2017.
