Skokie Schools Closed Friday, Moving To E-Learning Due To Extreme Cold
Skokie schools will be closed on Friday due to the anticipated extreme cold, officials announced.
SKOKIE, IL — Skokie students will stay home, with some attending school online on Friday due to anticipated extreme cold, school officials confirmed.
The following districts will move to e-learning for the day:
- District 219
- Fairview South School
- District 73 (East Prairie)
- District 73.5
- Evanston/Skokie District 65
All Skokie-Morton Grove School District 69 schools will be closed tomorrow and students will have the day off.

All before and after school activities at the schools will be canceled.
The National Weather Service issued an extreme cold warning for the area on Friday, with windchills expected to be dangerous and as low as 35 below zero. Though outside activity is discouraged, officials recommend layering up and putting on a hat, face mask and gloves if you must go outside.

The high in the Skokie area tomorrow is expected to be 0 degrees with a low around -5 degrees. Windchill values could be as low as -33 with speeds between 10 and 20 mph.
