Skokie's Backlot Bash Kicks Off
Find the complete schedule of events for the 2017 Backlot Bash, which runs through Sunday.

SKOKIE, IL — Skokie's downtown street festival marking the end of summer is kicking off its eleventh year, with original music, a carnival, a series of races, comedy, culture, film and more. The main stage headliners are A Flock of Seagulls on Friday, Soul Asylum on Saturday and Tributosaurus as R.E.M. on Sunday. There's a total of 19 bands scheduled to play on two stages over the three-day festival, offering a broad variety of genres including jazz, blues, rock, folk and more.
There will be plenty of kid-friendly activities — a giant inflatable corn maze, a magic show and a Princesses & Heroes Show — as well as more adult attractions such as a classic auto show, a pancake breakfast with a bloody mary and mimosa bar, a bingo tent and a large beer tent. There will also be a dunk tank, classic films and free wax hand molds which could potentially appeal to people of all ages.
The event runs from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday and noon-8 p.m. on Sunday in downtown Skokie, on the corner of Floral Avenue and Oakton Street.
