Strangulation Suspect Nabbed on Chicago's West Side
Jermaine Powell, a suspect in the Skokie homicide of his son's mother, was arrested on a warrant on Easter Sunday.

SKOKIE, IL - Jermaine Powell, the man wanted for questioning in the death of 31-year-old Skokie resident Catherine Banyamin is in custody.
Police in Skokie located and arrested Powell on Sunday, March 27 on a parole violation warrant. According to the Chicago Tribune, Powell was arrested on the West Side of Chicago.
“The Skokie Police Department appreciates the public’s help in locating Joshua and Jermaine Powell as related to this incident. The child, 10-month-old Joshua Powell, was found safe and unharmed on the evening of March 24,” the Skokie Police Department said in a statement Monday.

Benyamin was found dead last Thursday in her Keating Ave. home. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has declared the death a homicide by strangulation.
Powell has not been charged in connection with the death of Benyamin, the mother of his child. Police continue to work with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force on the investigation of the case.
