String Of Skokie Vehicle Burglaries Under Investigation
A string of vehicle burglaries that happened overnight in central Skokie this week is under investigation, police said.
SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department is investigating a string of vehicle burglaries that took place overnight on Tuesday.
According to authorities, the incidents happened between 2 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. in central Skokie and at least two offenders were involved. A majority of the burglarized vehicles had a window broken and easily carried items and cash were taken.
The suspects remain unknown and the police department urged any residents who may have video evidence or information to come forward.

- Park vehicles in a well-lit area near motion -ensor lights and away from shrubs or bushes.
- Lock vehicle doors and make sure windows are fully closed.
- Remove valuables, vehicle fobs and excess items from the vehicle, paticularly items that can be seen through windows.
- Ensure vehicle alarms or video systems are turned on.
Victims of burglary were advised to call 911 immediately and wait for an officer to respond instead of confronting anyone. It's also best not to enter the car or touch anything until police respond to preserve evidence at the scene.
