Substitute Teachers Wanted: District 219 Holds Hiring Fair
A job fair for interested substitute teachers and clerical staff is scheduled for Thursday at the Skokie Public Library.

SKOKIE, IL — Niles Township High School District 219 is hosting a job fair Thursday at a local library to find substitute teachers and clerks. It's the third year in a row the district has held a recruiting event to identify qualified subs.
The job fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a break from noon to 12:30 p.m., at the business center at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street.
Substitute teachers must have valid identification and a sub license from the Illinois State Board of Education, have a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, receive board approval before teaching and complete a fingerprint background check and a physical examination.

Clerical substitutes do not need an ISBE sub license, but preferred candidates will have had some experience working at an educational institution.
District 219 staff said it offers flexible working hours that some districts do not, allowing substitutes to work some assignments as short as two hours, according to Pioneer Press. Some of the best and most active of the district's pool of about 100 subs are graduate students, a spokesperson told the paper. Roughly 65 subs are needed every day, the Skokie Review reported.
