Tilted Kilt Now Open At Village Crossing Shopping Center
Sports bar known for waitresses' revealing uniforms employs 100 on the south side of town.

A Tilted Kilt sports bar and eatery is open in Skokie a few years after officials in the city of Evanston blocked the well-known chain’s attempts to locate there.
Known best for the revealing “uniforms” of their waitresses, Tilted Kilt’s presence several miles south of downtown Skokie has been a good one, sources from a variety of interest points of the endeavor have told the Skokie Review.
“This is a world-class place. I don’t think there’s any place like this in Skokie,” said Jerry Tritsis, owner of the pub in the Village Crossing shopping center. “We serve food and drinks, and there are a lot of reasons for people to visit here and have a good time.”

“When they go into strip centers like this, it’s a whole different thing,” added Skokie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Howard Meyer - referring to the proposal years back for Tilted Kilt to open in downtown Evanston. “We hear they’re doing fairly well here. It’s a nice mix.”

There were some objections before the plan commission approved its opening, but were little in comparison to what they faced in Evanston, where leaders denied the liquor license portion of that request.
In Skokie, Tilted Kilt employee 100 - two-thirds of which serve as waitresses.
“We’re sensitive to the needs of the community. It’s atypical that people don’t want to have an establishment that’s giving a hundred jobs to the community, giving young people opportunity,” Tristis said.
