Trump Picks Skokie Resident to Be On Hispanic Advisory Council
The Republican presidential nominee made the selection this week.
Jovita Carranza, who served as a Small Business Administration deputy administrator for Bush from 2006-2009, will be a member of Trump’s National Hispanic Advisory Council, the Chicago Sun-Times and others reported Monday.
She was photographed Saturday sitting alongside Trump at a meeting in New York.

Carranza is the founder of The JCR Group and was named to the Illinois Enterprise Zone Board by Gov. Bruce Rauner last year.
She was previously the highest-ranking Hispanic woman at UPS.

Trump was previously criticized for the mishandling of another Hispanic Advisory Council announcement. While Dallas Pastor Mark Gonzales was named to the panel, apparently he never actually agreedto it, according to Time.
The Carranza appointment came after reports surfaced that Trump may be easing his proposed policies on undocumented immigrants. An NBC News story indicated that three other members of his Hispanic Advisory Council reported meeting with the presidential candidate, who was "open-minded" in coming up with non-deportation solutions.
A plan could be announced soon that would be a "realistic, compassionate" way to solve the problem, one member of the Council said.
