Actors are needed to bring Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning play and one of the greatest dramas in American theater to the stage. Open call auditions for Oakton Community College’s production of “A Streetcar Named Desired” are scheduled 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the college’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Room A167.
The director is seeking actors of all ages and ethnicities. People of color are strongly encouraged to audition. No appointments are necessary. Those who audition must be prepared to do a cold reading from the script.
In “A Streetcar Named Desire,” unmarried former schoolteacher Blanche DuBois seeks refuge with her sister, Stella, and brother-in-law, Stanley Kowalski, in a rundown New Orleans tenement after losing her family’s home in Mississippi to creditors.

The play had a long and successful run on Broadway and was made into a film starring Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando.
Callbacks are scheduled 6:30-9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, at the Skokie campus.
