Two Sexual Assaults, Armed Robbery Reported: Skokie Crimes

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity and of those recently arrested. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone keyed the message "F___ You" into the hood of a Honda minivan in the 4900 block of Mulford Street sometime between 10:30 a.m. on July 28 and 1 p.m. on July 30.

BATTERY
On July 28, shortly after 7:30 p.m., a person was struck by unknown offenders while playing at Lawler Park.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On July 29, around 9 a.m., at the Pooch Park in the 3200 block of Oakton Street, a man told a couple of people he would go home, get a gun and shoot their dog.

ASSAULT
On July 29, around 3:21 p.m., a mail carrier was assaulted for not delivering mail in the 7700 block of Tripp Avenue.

THEFT
It was reported on July 30 that four people, described as one man and 3 women between the ages of 35-45 and possibly Asian, stole $1,650 from an employee of the Apple Store at Old Orchard Shopping Center at 7:22 on July 29.

BURGLARY
On July 30, shortly after 6 a.m., someone broke into the T-Mobile store in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and stole an unknown number of items.

CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT
A criminal sexual assault that occurred between 4 a.m. on July 29 and 9:20 p.m. on July 30 was reported 9:20 p.m. July 30. Police said it was determined to have occurred in Chicago.

CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT
A known suspect committed a sexual assault against a person within the person's residence in the 8500 block of Lotus Avenue at 5 p.m. on July 30. No one is in custody, and police said the incident has been investigated and is unrelated to the above report.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT
Someone stole an unlocked vehicle with its key fob left in the center console from the 7400 block of Kedvale between 9 p.m. July 30 and 6:30 a.m. July 31.

ARMED ROBBERY
Around 3:30 p.m. on July 31, a man, described as 40-45-years-old and black, and a woman, described as black and 30-35-years-old, robbed a man at gunpoint and took his cell phone in the 4400 block of Howard Street. Police said the phone was later recovered. It was returned to the victim that the case is inactive at the victim's request.

ARRESTS

Alejandro Mendoza, 23, of the 800 block of Madison Boulevard, was arrested July 29 at 1:03 a.m. in the 5300 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with battery after attacking two people who attempted to separate him from his girlfriend. His court date was set for Sept. 12.

William Burton, 64, of the 1500 block of Lake Street in Evanston, was arrested July 30 at 3:23 p.m. at Old Orchard Shopping Center. He was charged with two counts of retail theft from the Sunglass Hut and one count of possession of drug equipment. His court date was set for Aug. 16.

Marcy H. Frankel, 57, of the 8400 block of North Kedvale Avenue, was arrested July 30 at 8:18 p.m. at her home and charged with battery. Her court date was set for Aug. 21.

Paul S. Ibraham, 23, of the 4200 block of West Oakton Street, was arrested near the MB Financial branch on Oakton Street on Aug. 1 at 7:01 p.m. and charged with possession of a controlled substance. His court date was set for Aug. 14.

Bianca Selena Pitts, 20, of the 1600 block of Lake Street in Evanston, was arrested at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy on Aug. 1 at 4:50 p.m. and charged with one count of retail theft. Her court date was set for Sept. 15.

Terry L. Snyder, 18, of the 4800 block of Francisco Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at the Best Buy in the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue on Aug. 2 at 3:40 p.m. and charged with retail theft. His court date was set for Sept. 15.
