UConn Too Much for DePaul WBB
The DePaul Blue Demons lost 75-53 to Big East rival UConn, ending their four game win streak.

Riding a four game winning streak, the No. 18/21 DePaul Blue Demons traveled to Storrs, Connecticut to face the No. 4/5 University of Connecticut Huskies, their fourth top ten opponent in this young season. The Huskies proved t be too much for the Blue Demons, as they cruised to a 75-52 victory.
DePaul trailed for most of the game, only leading for 1:45 against UConn's 36:31. UConn led by four at the end of the first quarter, 11 at halftime, and 14 at the end of the third, before ending the game up 23, their biggest lead of the night. DePaul's biggest lead was only two points early in the first quarter. There were only six lead changes in the entire game.
UConn crushed DePaul in points in the paint (38-12), field goal percentage (40.8%-25%) and assists (21-9). UConn also led in second chance points (22-16) and fast break points (11-8), while DePaul scored more off the bench (20-15).

Coming off the bench, Darrione Rogers scored 20 with 10 rebounds, both team highs. It was the first career double-double for Rogers, who was the only Blue Demon in double digits. Lexi Held (9), Sonya Morris (8), Deja Church (6), Dee Bekelja (5) and Jorie Allen (4) provided the rest of the scoring.
Paige Bueckers paed the Huskies with 18. Five Huskies finished with double digit points. Three other Huskies added two points each to round out the scoring.

While it was a tough loss for the Blue Demons, it was UConn's toughest win of the season. The 23 point win was well below the 40 point average victory margin for UConn this season.
Now standing at 5-3, DePaul is expected to take a slight dip in the rankings. Even though UConn is highly ranked, a loss will still hurt DePaul's rank.
DePaul returns to action against northern border rival Marquette on Sunday, January 3 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marquette at 6-1 carries a five game win streak into the game. The Big East showdown will be televised nationally on FS1 at 1 PM.
