and North Shore Country Day's Austin Curren came out on top, winning Athlete of the Week.
Curren has had point totals of 25, 28 and 32 points in three conference wins for the Raiders. During that time he’s shot 67 percent from the field (29/43) and has turned the ball over only five times. Curren is also averaging 5.5 rebounds per game.
The North Shore junior received 25,570 votes, or 53 percent.

HONORABLE MENTION
Molly Kleppin, junior, girls basketball, Niles West - Kleppin led the Wolves with 15 points in a tough win against Maine South. Niles West clinched at least a share of the CSL South championship last week. Kleppin scored nine of her 15 points in the second quarter against Maine South.

Kleppin came in a close second, capturing 21,535 votes, or 44 percent.
Olivia Smoliga, junior, girls swimming, Glenbrook South / USA – After winning two state championships in the Fall, Smoliga is now preparing for a run at the Olympics. In June she will compete at the Olympic Trials and will swim in four events: the 100 and 200-meter backstrokes and 50 and 100 freestyles.
Jordan Pessah, senior, wrestling, Maine West – Pessah was one of five regional champions for Maine West, which captured its first regional championship as a team since 1999. Pessah finished first in the 152-pound division by pinning Evanston’s Gabe Brieva in 3:29 in the finals.
Leonard Garron, senior, football, Evanston – Garron signed a letter-of-intent last week to play football at Southern Illinois University. Garron will attend the NCAA Division 1-AA team after starring at tight end and defensive end for Evanston over the past three seasons on the varsity squad.
