Upgrade Planned at ComEd Facility in Skokie
The construction of a second entrance on Church Street is among the planned improvements.

SKOKIE, IL - The Commonwealth Edison site in the 5100 block of Church Street in Skokie will soon see a major upgrade after the village Plan Commission recommended approval of the electrical company’s plan this week, according to the Skokie Review.
The upgrade calls for a reporting center and garage, equipment and vehicle storage building and several electrical switchyard buildings.
A second entrance will also be built on Church Street if village trustees approve the Plan Commission’s plan at a later date.

A new state-of-the-art fence will be constructed as well to have ComEd fall in line with a federal directive about increased security at such sites.
Not only would the upgrade include several small, new buildings within the TSS 88 substations, but also new state-of-the-art secure fencing that ComEd says follows a federal directive about beefing up security at such sites.
