Wed. Blotter: Joy Rider Busted With Pot, Burglary at Car Dealer

Joy Riding With Pot
Paris Marquist Christian, 19, of the 200 block of Broadway Avenue in Chicago, was charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol on March 2. According to the report, Christian was stopped for driving without his headlights near the 4400 block of Main Street.
When officers approached Christian’s vehicle, they saw an open bottle of tequila in the backseat and detected a strong odor of burnt cannabis. Christian told police that the vehicle was a rental and that he had taken a shot of tequila earlier. Police also found marijuana on the floor near the gas pedal.

When asked why there was marijuana on the carpet, Christian told officers, “That’s the weed when I was making my blunt earlier. I must of dropped some of my weed [on the floor,]” according to the report. His court date is April 12.

A car parked in the 8400 block of Springfield Street was burglarized on March 7. According to the report, a GPS device, a gym bag, $40 in cash, a gold necklace and earrings were stolen from the vehicle. The victim told police that entry was likely gained because the car was left unlocked.
DUI
Carl Andrew Shearer, 23, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and several other charges on March 13 around 1 a.m. According to the report, Shearer was stopped at a routine checkpoint in the 5000 block of Dempster Street. While he told officers that he only had two beers, Shearer had a blood alcohol content level of .152. His court date is April 12.
Random vandalism
Police responded to the 9000 block of Niles Center Road regarding a criminal damage compliant on March 14 around 9:30 a.m. According to the report, a woman reported that two concrete blocks were used to smash her vehicle’s windows. She told police that she did not know who could be responsible but suspected the vandalism might have something to do with her 21-year-old daughter.
Dealership vehicle burglarized
A car showcased at Sherman Dodge, 7601 Skokie Blvd., was burglarized on March 13. According to the report, a Dodge Charger’s media center was removed from the vehicle. The car also parked five vehicles away from a similar incident. Police are investigating.
