Woman, 63, Fatally Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Lincolnwood

Police believe a newer model Hyundai Santa Fe hit the woman on Touhy Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday.

LINCOLNWOOD, IL — A hit-and-run driver fatally struck a pedestrian Sunday on Touhy Avenue in Lincolnwood, police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to Touhy Avenue near Lincolnwood Town Center, in the middle of the block between McCormick Place and Town Center Drive, for a report of an injured woman.

Paramedics rushed a 63-year-old Chicago woman to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where she later died, according to Lincolnwood police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, which have not yet released her identity.

Police said the car that struck her may have been a Hyundai Santa Fe made in the last few years. No further details about the SUV were available from police Monday morning.

The Major Crash Assistance Team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force was called in to assist with the investigation, leading to the overnight closure of Touhy Avenue.
