Volkswagen Carjacked; Arrests For Warrants, DUI, Fleeing: Blotter

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of police activity and of those recently arrested. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Around 7:07 p.m. on Aug. 17, an unidentified woman reportedly tried to run over a person in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Touhy Avenue.

Around 8:15 p.m. on Aug. 21, a group of people entered a store in the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue. Police reports said the group was believed to have committed a previous theft at the same location. One of the group allegedly removed a knife from her purse, threatened one of the employees and pushed him in the face.

STOLEN CAR

After a physical confrontation a man reportedly stole a 2013 Volkswagen from the 4000 block of Birchwood Avenue around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 20. The suspect was described as a 20-year-old, 5-foot, 9-inch black man with a slim build, short black hair and bleached blue jeans.

CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT

A sexual assault was reported at 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 23. It was reported to have occurred between 10:50 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 23.

STOLEN CAR

A vehicle was stolen from a dealership in the 7600 block of Skokie Boulevard on Aug. 13 shortly before 9 p.m., police were informed on Aug. 23.

HIT AND RUN


A blue sedan struck a person riding a bicycle and fled the scene in the 4600 block of Golf Road around 6:14 p.m. on Aug. 23.

COUNTERFEIT

Someone used a fake $100 bill to pay for a pizza in the 4000 block of Golf Road around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 23. Police were told the woman received $84.40 in change and never came to pick up her pizza.


ARRESTS

THEFT

Gianni V. Nguyen, 34, of the 5700 block of North Richmond Street, Chicago, was arrested Aug. 17 at 4:50 p.m. in the 3200 block of Howard Street and charged with theft of under $500 after he allegedly removed a bicycle from a bicycle rack, in the 8700 block of McCormick Avenue. He was assigned a court date of Sept. 12.


WARRANT

Daniel Kot, 25, of the 1000 block of West Lawrence Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 17 at 6:53 p.m. in the 8600 block of Keeler Avenue in connection with an in-state warrant.


WARRANT

Paul S. Ibraham, 23, of the the 4200 block of West Oakton Street was arrested Aug. 17 at 8:37 p.m. at his home on three in-state warrants.


DUI

Tania T. Villegas, 29, of the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue in Evanston, was arrested Aug. 19 at 12:20 a.m. at her home and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was assigned a court date of Sept. 12.


DUI

Javier Francisco Reyes, 20, of the 9100 block of Bennett Avenue in Evanston, was arrested Aug. 19 at 1:30 a.m. in the 9300 block of Central Park Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content above 0.08. He was assigned an Oct. 16 court date.


RETAIL THEFT

Carl Jackson, 55, of the 6800 block of South Talman Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 19 at 4:16 p.m. and charged with retail theft in connection with incidents in the 4900 block of Old Orchard Center and in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard. His court date was set for Sept. 11.


RETAIL THEFT

Nequan M. McCree, 22, of the 2000 block of West Jarvis Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 19 at 8:11 p.m. in the 4900 block of Old Orchard Center and charged with retail theft. He was assigned a Sept. 15 court date.

Amra Hadzic, 21, of the 6100 block of North Kenmore Avenue, was arrested in the same incident, which reportedly occurred at Macy's. She was also given a Sept. 15 court date.


RETAIL THEFT

Crystal Anne Kelly, 34, of the 6700 block of North Maplewood Avenue in Chicago, was arrested Aug. 19 at 8:53 p.m. at the Skokie Police Department and charged with retail theft. She was assigned a Sept. 25 court date.


RETAIL THEFT

Keelan D. Gillard, 32, of the 8100 block of South Harvard Avenue in Chicago was arrested Aug. 20 at 6:07 p.m. at a Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft. He was assigned a Sept. 15 court date.


DUI

Guetelle C. Jean, 33, of the 4800 block of Carol Street, was arrested Aug. 21 at 4:30 a.m. in teh 9000 block of Bronx Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was assigned an Oct. 6 court date. (No photograph available.)


THEFT

Taibou Oladipo, 53, of the 1600 block of West Chase Avenue, was arrested Aug. 21 at 11:38 a.m. in the 1700 block of Green Bay Road and charged with theft of more than $500. She was assigned a Sept. 25 court date.


RETAIL THEFT

Wilson Guerrero Gonzales, 18, of the 2100 block of West Touhy Avenue, Chicago, was arreted Aug. 22 at 4:09 p.m. at the Skokie Police Department and charged with retail theft. He was assigned a Sept. 15 court date.

WARRANT

Anton D. Garrett, 20, of the 500 block of North Lavergne Street, Chicago, was arrested Aug. 22 at 4:22 p.m. at the Walmart on the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue on an in-state warrant.


FLEEING, ELUDING

Kermeto D. Evans, 40, of the 100 block of Clyde Avenue in Evanston, was arrested Aug. 23 at 8:40 p.m. at the Skokie Police Department and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer.


WARRANT

Marcy H. Frankel, 57, of the 8400 block of North Kedvale Avenue, was arrested Aug. 24 at 6:07 p.m. at her home on an in-state warrant.
