Women Make More Money Than Men in Skokie
Women make more money than men in only 17 of 529 municipalities nationwide in NerdWallet study. Skokie is one of them.

SKOKIE, IL - A recent study by personal finance website NerdWallet shows that women nationwide take home only 80 cents for every $1 men make, but Skokie is one of the exceptions.
The study, which analyzed U.S. Census data from 2014, found that women on average actually outearn men in the village.
“Women’s media earnings out trump men’s by 3.6 percent,” according to the study, which looked at 529 municipalities in the United States and found that only 17 showed women making more money.

Skokie was also ranked as the ninth best city for women in the workplace nationwide, coming in tops among Illinois communities and only behind a handful in the Midwest.
The rankings were based on a combination of data including women’s earnings as a percentage to men’s, rent as a percentage of women’s monthly earnings, difference in the workforce participation rate between women and men and unemployment rates.
