Yellow Line Service Suspended By Heavy Rain

The CTA Yellow Line was shut down Friday morning due to standing water from heavy rains.

SKOKIE, IL — Flooding shut down service on the CTA Yellow Line Friday morning. Shortly after 8 a.m., the transit agency asked commuters to use the No. 97 bus as an alternative after continued heavy rainfall left standing water on the tracks. Shuttle bus service to the Howard Street station is available from the Dempster and Oakton Street stations.

A flash flood watch is in effect until 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Rain is predicted to continue throughout the day Friday with showers possibly continuing into the evening.

Yellow Line service resumed "with major delays" around 10 a.m., according to the CTA.
