You are Invited To the September 21, 2014 Public Safety Open House!

The Village of Skokie Fire and Police Departments will host a Public Safety Open House on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fir

The Village of Skokie Fire and Police Departments will host a Public Safety Open House on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fire Station 16, 7424 Niles Center Road and Police Headquarters, 7300 Niles Center Road.

The free event includes:

· Viewing firefighting and police equipment

· Tours of both Police and Fire facilities

-Tours of the Police Headquarters are scheduled for 1:30, 2:15 and 3 p.m.

· High-angle rope rescue at 2 p.m. and a vehicle extrication demonstrations

at 3 p.m.

· Display of Public Works and Health Department vehicles

· Fire and Police safety activities for children

· K-9 Unit demonstrations

The Skokie Medical Reserve Corps and the Human Services Division will have informational tables at the open house. The Public Safety and Technology and Telecommunications Advisory Commissions will have displays. Two presentations will be held at Police Headquarters: Lizvath Mendez, Illinois Attorney General’s Office at 1:30 p.m. and Ron Graziano, Regional Coordinator – North Region, Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management at 3 p.m. Space is limited.

Donations of non-perishable food items to benefit the Niles Township Food Pantry will be collected at both Fire Station 16 and the Police headquarters at the Public Safety Open House. Glass jars and perishable items are not accepted. On a first-come, first-served basis, individuals over 21 years of age who donate food items at Police Headquarters will be eligible to sign up for a five-minute personal demonstration in the Virta Firearm Simulator.
