2 Women Shot At Friday's Chicago White Sox Game: Police
Police said one woman was shot in the leg while a bullet grazed the other's stomach during the game at Guaranteed Rate Field.
CHICAGO, IL — Two women were shot during Friday night's baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the Oakland Athletics, according to police.
Chicago police were called to Guaranteed Rate Field around 7:25 p.m., according to a news release. Police said a 42-year-old woman was shot in the leg, and a 26-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to her abdomen.
The older woman was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment, where she was in fair condition, police said. The younger woman refused medical treatment, police said.

In a statement released early Saturday morning, the White Sox confirmed the women were two fans attending the game. Team officials said it was unclear whether shots were fired inside or outside the park.

"While the police continue to investigate, White Sox security confirms that this incident did not involve an altercation of any kind," the team said in a statement.

The statement continued, "The White Sox are thinking of the victims at this time and wishing them a speedy recovery."
Tom Miller, who attended the game, told ABC7 the reported shooting happened just in front of him.
"It happened just two rows in front of me, and there was no one in front of us. All of a sudden this lady just starts bleeding from the leg," Miller told the news station. "There were at least two of them in a row that got hit... And all of a sudden security was there and they kicked us out."
