Alleged Black Disciple Gang Member Found Guilty in 2014 Murder of 14-Year-Old Boy

Alleged gang member mentioned in lyrics by Chicago rappers, reports said.

CHICAGO -- A jury found a Chicago man guilty of fatally shooting a 14-year-old boy as he walked with a group of friends near a convenience store. Ahbir Sardin, 20, was convicted of first degree murder when the verdict was returned late Thursday evening at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said in a news release.

Sardin, an alleged member of the Black Disciples, went by the street name 'D. Rose." He was referred to in lyrcs by Chicago rappers Chief Keef, Cdai and RondoNumbaNine, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Fourteen-year-old Venzel Richardson and friends had just left a convenience store near 61st Street and King Drive on Feb. 12, 2014. The group was walking southbound on Vernon Street when a white minivan pulled up alongside them. Sardin slid open the driver’s side passenger door and started firing a gun into the group, prosecutors said.

Richardson was hit four times, including a shot in the back of the head. After he was shot, the boy ran into a nearby gangway to escape, where he died of his injuries.

Several witnesses identified Sardin as the shooter, prosecutors said. He was arrested and charged. He now faces 45 years to life in the Illinois Department of Corrections when he is sentenced Oct. 26, 2016.
