Amber Alert Lifted For 8-Year Old Girl On South Side

CHICAGO, IL - An Amber Alert was issued for an 8-year-old girl who was taken by a group of unknown car thieves on the South Side of Chicago Sunday afternoon. Police said the girl was left unattended in the backseat of the car, a 2006 Audi with Indiana license plates. The Amber Alert was lifted just before 9 p.m. when police said the girl was reunited with her family.

Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirmed after 7 p.m. that an Amber Alert has been issued in connection with the case. A Fox-Chicago report indicates the girl was taken by the carjackers around 4 p.m. from the 8500 block of Cottage Grove Avenue on the South Side. The girl was unattended in the back seat when the car was stolen. It was parked in front of a store on the block.
