SOUTH HOLLAND, IL—Cook County Board and Forest Preserves of Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle and General Superintendent Adam Bianchi will join a cavalcade of elected officials, including U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, Commissioner Donna Miller and Commissioner Kisha McCaskil for the 13th annual Juneteenth Jubilee.
The Juneteenth Jubilee brings together residents from across the region for a free celebration of freedom, culture, history and community at Sand Ridge Nature Center & Campus, 15891 Paxton Ave., South Holland, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20. The event is FREE.
Enjoy a day of performers, artists, historians and educators. Attendees will experience interactive exhibits and activities presented by local artists, educators and community organizations. Highlights include a Freedom Journey walk featuring stories and quotes that explore the meaning of Juneteenth.
Explore a community art exhibit by A Child’s Vision, genealogy resources from the Afro-American Genealogical & Historical Society of Chicago, local Underground Railroad history presented by the Midwest Underground Railroad Network, and hands-on cultural activities led by community partners.
