Man Found Fatally Mauled In Back-of-the-Yards Dog Attack Identified

The 56-year-old man died from injuries caused by a dog mauling, Cook County Medical Examiner said.

CHICAGO—A death investigation is underway in Back-of-the-Yards after a man was fatally mauled in an apparent dog attack.

Just before 9 p.m. last Thursday, a 56-year-old man was found unresponsive in an alley in the 2000 block of West 47th Street. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as Cesar Salgado, who died from injuries caused by a dog mauling. The death was ruled accidential.

It is unknown if more than one dog was involved in the attack or the breed of dog.

A death investigation is underway.
