4 Chicago Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze At Vacant Building In Back Of The Yards

Three firefighters are in good condition and one in serious condition, after they were injured battling a fire in Back of the Yards.

CHICAGO—At least four firefighters were injured Thursday morning battling a fire on the South Side, Chicago fire officials said.

The fire happened in the 5400 block of South Justine Avenue in a vacant building in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood, according to news reports.

Four firefighters were taken from the scene to a nearby hospital, three in good condition, and one in serious condition. All are expected to survive, a fire official told Patch.

It is not known at this time what led up to the injuries.
