Armed Robber Shot Himself In Penis: Cops

A full day without a shooting in Chicago ended when a man shot himself in the penis after robbing a business on the South Side, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A span of more than 24 hours without a reported shooting incident in Chicago ended Tuesday morning when an armed robber shot himself in the penis, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune. A 19-year-old man sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the lower body while he was committing an armed robbery at a business in the 700 block of West 116th Place in the West Pullman neighborhood, according to a major incident notification from the Chicago Police Department.

Police say two victims were robbed at gun point at the business of mobile phones, wallets and cash at 6:04 a.m. The offender fled on foot and "subsequently shot himself in the penis," police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he remains in serious condition. Charges are pending against the wounded alleged armed robber.
