Convicted Sex Predator On The Lam Nabbed On South Side For Failure To Register: Sheriff

Cook County Sheriff's Police and US Marshals said the 34-year-old man failed to register as a sex offender when he was released from prison.

CHICAGO — A convicted sex predator was arrested on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said.

Justin Johnson, 34, was convicted in 2022 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Sangamon County. He did a stint at the Taylorville Correction Center.

Johnson was released on parole in May, but authorities said he failed to register as a sex offender as required by law. The victim was 16 at the time, and Johnson was 30 at the time of the offense.

Investigators from the Cook Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit and U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Fugitive Task Force learned that Johnson was staying at a residence in the 7200 block of South Hoyne Avenue in Chicago. Authorities said he was arrested without incident.
