Switches, Guns, Pills, Cash And Cannabis Found In Raid In Ashburn Residence, 3 Charged

CHICAGO—Three men are accused of trafficking switches that turn guns into machine guns in Chicago’s South Side Ashburn neighborhood.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Crime Division and the Department of Homeland Security investigators discovered a bevy of switches, guns, pills, cannabis cash during a raid on Aug. 13 in the 2700 block of West 84th Street.

Investigators recovered a package with ten switches inside, as well as two firearms, suspected cannabis, pills that field-tested positive for fentanyl, oxycodone pills, Xanax pills, a bottle of promethazine, assorted ammo, and more than $14,000 cash.

Three men were taken into custody at the scene, sheriff’s police said. All are facing felonies.

Rashaun Lee, 26, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender.

Brasean Doss, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of more than 500 grams of cannabis, and 22-year-old Dawan Murry, of East Chicago, IN, was charged with manufacture/delivery of fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance. Murry was also found to be on probation for an aggravated fleeing case at the time of his arrest.

The three appeared for a detention hearing Aug. 15 at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building. Murry and Doss were released, but Lee was ordered to remain in Cook County Jail.
