Bullets Fly Over I-57, 2 Charged In Road Rage Incident: ISP
The men are accused of shooting a driver after they rear-ended his vehicle on I-57 near 111th Street, then fleeing and eluding police.

CHICAGO — Two men are accused of shooting another driver during a road rage incident earlier this week on I-57.
Tayvon Green-Powe, 25, of Harvey, is charged with two counts of attempted murder. Also charged was 25-year-old Kraig Payne, of Chicago, who is facing felony counts of aggravated fleeing to elude and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for his role in the incident.
A few minutes after 10 p.m. Monday, Illinois State Police responded to a report of shots fired in the northbound lanes of I-57 just south of 111th Street. During their investigation, state troopers determined that a red Chevrolet Impala had rear-ended a Toyota RAV-4.

Both vehicles pulled over to the side of the road. The Toyota driver exited their vehicle and was shot at multiple times by the driver of the Chevrolet, which fled the area before officers arrived. The driver of the Toyota was transported to an area hospital with injuries.
The next day, state police located the Chevrolet, as well as Green-Powe and Payne, at an address in Harvey, where they were taken into custody. ISP investigators also reportedly found multiple firearms. After an extensive investigation, Green-Powe was identified as the shooter, ISP said.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges. Payne and Green-Powe were both denied pretrial release during a detention hearing.
