CHICAGO, IL — Police were involved in another South Side shooting Saturday night, this one happening only a few miles from the spot where Chicago cops fatally shot a man accused of opening fire on them first almost exactly 24 hours earlier. An officer and an allegedly armed offender were wounded in the incident in the East Chatham neighborhood, according to a statement by police released Sunday.

The officer was sent to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition; the wounded man — whose name and age were not revealed by police — was transported to Stroger Hospital, but his condition was not given.
