Chicago Man Shot, Killed Near Ford City Mall

Chicago police said the man was standing near a parking lot when he received a gunshot wound to the head.

CHICAGO — A Chicago man was shot and killed Monday afternoon near Ford City Shopping Center, on the Chicago-Burbank border, Chicago police said. The victim has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as 32-year-old Rick Perez, 32.

Around 5:30 p.m., police said Perez was near a parking lot when he was struck in the head by gunfire. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

Perez died a few hours later at 8:22 p.m. No one is in custody, and CPD detectives are investigating, since the shooting happened in Chicago, according to News Affairs.
