Suspects Sought In 10 Armed Robberies On South Side: Chicago Police
Ten armed robberies were reported in Brainerd, Stoney Island Park, Calumet Heights, South Chicago and South Shore, police said.
CHICAGO—Chicago police are looking for a group behind a rash of armed robberies reported in the Brainerd, Stoney Island Park, Calumet Heights and South Chicago neighborhoods located within the 4th South Chicago and 22nd Morgan Park districts.
Witnesses have reported a group of four to five men exiting vehicles and approaching victims with guns drawn, including handguns and a rifle. Incidents were reported at the following times and locations:
- 9200 block of South May Avenue, 11:25 a.m. March 6 (Brainerd)
- 8700 block of S. Chappel Avenue, 8:15 a.m. March 10 (Stoney Island Park)
- 2900 block of E. 87th Street , 8:40 a.m. March 10 (Calumet Heights)
- 8800 of S. Saginaw Ave., 8:50 a.m. March 10 (Calumet Heights)
- 7900 block of S. Marquette Avenue, 8:50 a.m. March 10 (South Chicago)
- 2800 block of E. 80th Street, 8:54 a.m. March 10 (South Chicago)
- 9100 block of S. Buffalo Avenue, 9:03 a.m. (South Chicago)
- 7600 block of S. Crandon Avenue, 3:26 p.m. March 13
- 7800 block of S. Kingston Avenue, 10:30 a.m. March 14, (South Shore)
- 7600 block of S. Exchange Avenue 12:02 a.m.March 15 (South Shore)
The suspects are described as four or five black males in dark clothing and ski masks. Police say the group frequently uses stolen vehicles, several of which have since been located and may be using various makes and models.
