White Sox' Danny Farquhar Still In ICU After Brain Surgery
The White Sox pitcher had surgery after suffering a brain hemorrhage last weekend.

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar is "progressing well" just days after suffering from a brain hemorrhage and ruptured aneurysm during Friday night's game at Guaranteed Rate Field. The team has updated fans on the relief pitcher's status, indicating on Monday that surgery performed over the weekend to address the aneurysm was successful.
Farquhar has use of his extremities, is responding appropriately to questions and commands and is speaking to doctors and his family, the team said. He remains in critical, but stable, condition at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
"He's a fighter, and he's in the fight of his life right now," White Sox Team President Kenny Williams told the USA Today. "They had to do another surgery, cracking his skull open and putting a clamp on it. My God, this certainly shows the fragility of life and how we take every day for granted. And it can change in a heartbeat. Literally."

Farquhar, a resident of Temecula, California during the off-season, vomited in the sixth inning of Friday's game against the Houston Astros and then collapsed from the aneurysm. His wife, Lexie and other family members are with him at Rush as he continues to receive treatment and close monitoring. He's expected to be in the neurosurgical ICU there for the next few weeks.
Fans interested in sending “Get Well” wishes and letters of support to Farquhar should address mail to him at Guaranteed Rate Field, 333 W. 35th St., Chicago, IL 60616.

"His family and the White Sox organization appreciate all of the messages of support for Danny, and the White Sox also appreciate fans and friends keeping Danny and his family in their thoughts and prayers," the team wrote.
Farquhar has been in professional baseball since he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2008. He made his major league debut with the Blue Jays in 2011 and has also played for the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays.
In a classy move, the Mariners displayed Farquhar's Seattle jersey in their dugout during Monday's game against the White Sox in Chicago.
