DUI Crackdown Planned In Auburn Gresham

Several Chicago police officers will be in the 6th District Saturday night looking to arrest drunk drivers.

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police will be on the South Side looking for drunk drivers Saturday night. A community alert sent Thursday indicates the city's "DUI Saturation Patrol" will focus on the 6th Police District, centered in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, from 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 until 3 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The exact location of the patrols aren't known, but police say they will "saturate a pre-designated area with roving police officers" who look for signs of impaired driving. Police place added emphasis on speeding and seat belt violations during these patrols as well.

The 6th District is bordered by Western Avenue to the west, 75th Street to the north, Dauphin Avenue to the east and 95th Street to the south, although in the western half of the district the southernmost border is 87th Street.
