Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia Wins 4th District Congressional Primary
Jesus "Chuy" Garcia has been declared winner in the Illinois 4th District Congressional Democratic Primary.

ILLINOIS 4TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT - Jesus "Chuy" Garcia has been declared the projected winner of the Illinois 4th Congressional District Democratic primary. Garcia has received 66.8 percent of the vote, which covers both parts of the city of Chicago and suburban Cook County. Sol Flores had 21.1 percent, with Richard Gonzalez taking 12.1 percent.
One of the most intriguing congressional races in Chicagoland was in the 4th Congressional District, where three Democrats sought to win the party's nomination to succeed incumbent Luis Gutierrez, who announced he would not seek re-election several months ago. Gutierrez has held the 4th Congressional seat since 1993. Scroll down to see updated vote percentages throughout Election Night.
Vying for the Democratic nomination in the Illinois 4th Congressional District are Sol Flores, Jesus Garcia and Richard Gonzalez. Flores touts endorsements from the Chicago Tribune and Emily's List on her campaign website, while Garcia hopes to continue momentum he gained three years ago when he forced Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel into a runoff election and Gonzalez touts his working class background.

Garcia has received a big name endorsement of his own. Vermont U.S. Senator and 2016 Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders came to Chicago's Little Village neighborhood last month to help Garcia's campaign. READ MORE: Bernie Sanders Comes To Little Village To Endorse Jesus 'Chuy' Garcia
On the Republican side, Mark Wayne Lorch is running unopposed and will face the winner of the Democratic primary in the November election.

Four candidates - Joe Moreno, Raymond Lopez, Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and Neli Vazquez Rowland - originally intended to run for the Congressional seat as Democrats, but have since dropped out of the race. Moreno and Lopez are aldermen in the city of Chicago. Jay Reyes has withdrawn his name on the Republican side, according to Ballotpedia.
Two Republicans, Ann Melichar and Ruben Sanchez, Jr., have been removed from the ballot.
The Illinois 4th Congressional District includes parts of several neighborhoods on the North, South and West sides of Chicago (including Brighton Park, North Center and Austin) as well as parts of a few near west suburbs such as Berwyn, Brookfield and Melrose Park.
