Family Identifies Man Hit By Car, Killed In Chatham
Robert Green was the founder of the Chatham Village Symphony Orchestra.

CHICAGO - A man was hit by a car and killed Tuesday morning while crossing a busy street in the city's Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. Chicago police responded to the fatal crash in the 8500 block of south Cottage Grove Avenue around 9:25 a.m.
The driver of the car that hit the man stopped after the crash and is cooperating with police, telling officers the man stopped in the middle of the street to pick something up just before he was struck.
The fatal victim has been identified as Robert B. Green, 82, of Chicago. He was the father of Chicago Cubs Media Director Julian Green.

Julian Green told Patch that his father was a retired printer and member of Lithographers and Photoengravers union. The older Green was also the founder of the Chatham Village Symphony Orchestra. He is survived by his loving wife Hattie Green, three sons and five grandchildren.
