Man Shot During Altercation In Jewel-Osco Parking Lot: Police

A 54-year-old man shot a 32-year-old man in the West Elsdon Jewel-Osco lot. Shooter had a valid FOID/CCL, Chicago Police said.

CHICAGO — A 32-year-old man was shot during an apparent altercation Monday afternoon in a supermarket parking lot on the city’s West Elsdon neighhborhood, Chicago police said.

Around 5:10 p.m., a 54-year-old man was leaving Jewel-Osco near 53rd Street and Pulaski Road. Police said the older man got into a physical altercation with the younger man. The older man took out a gun and fired shots at the 32-year-old man, striking him in the head.

The younger man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious to critical condition suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Police said the older man’s hand was injured, and he was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

It is not known what initially started the argument. The weapon was recovered. The 54-year-old man has a valid FOID/CCL, police said. Area One detectives are investigating.
