Men Tried To Grab 10-Year-Old Boy On South Side Last Week

Chicago police are alerting the public to an attempted child abduction that happened April 11 in the Gresham neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago police are looking for two men who tried to snatch a 10-year-old boy in the South Side Gresham neighborhood last Thursday. Police provided a composite drawing of one of the men, who has letters tattooed on his neck.

The boy was approached by two men around 7 a.m. April 11 in the 8200 block of South Perry Avenue. Police said the boy was taking trash to the alley behind his home when one of the men exited the vehicle and grabbed him. The boy was able to escape by running back into his house without being harmed. The men fled.

The first alleged offender is described as a man in his 20s with a light brown complexion. He was wearing a hoodie and navy blue pants. The driver was a man in his 50s with a light-skinned complexion. Police said the men were driving an older model gray, 4-door vehicle.

Police are asking residents to be aware of the situation and alert their neighbors about the incident. If possible, don't walk, jog or bike alone, and stay in well lit areas. Call 911 to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity in your neighborhood. Provide police with a detailed description of the offender, including any vehicle description and license plate information.
