Paul Simon Job Corps Chicago Holds Open House For High Schoolers

High schoolers and their families can learn more about apprenticeships and job training Friday, April 21, at the job corps open house.

CHICAGO – As springtime blooms across Chicagoland, graduating high schoolers and families are considering their education and career options, including job training and pre-apprenticeships. The Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps campus is set to host an Open House on Friday, April 21, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The “Planting Seeds for the Future” Open House will be an opportunity for young men and women, their families, and others interested to connect with Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps, tour the campus and learn more about the U.S. Department of Labor’s career technical training program—tuition-free for eligible students ages 16–24.

Eight career training areas are offered, including: certified nurse assistant, pharmacy technician, bricklayer, carpentry, painting, security and protective services, computer technician, and material handling and distribution.

Current students will lead tours of the job corps campus highlighting an overview of its holistic residential education and career training offerings, demonstrations and opportunities for new students to begin the job corps enrollment process.

The event is open to the public, including prospective students, high school and community college administrators, foster care organizations, youth homelessness providers, community centers, workforce/one-stop partners, youth organizations and services, local chambers of commerce, and other community groups.
