South Side Residents, Businesses Alerted To Package Theft Pattern

CHICAGO — Chicago Police Area 2 detectives are alerting businesses and residents in the South Shore, Calumet, Gresham and Morgan Park districts of a pattern of package thefts.

In these instances, delivery trucks are approached while parked on the public way by crews who removed packages from the trucks. The police say the purported thieves flee on foot or escape in a waiting vehicle.

Thefts were reported at the following times and locations:

• 100 Block of West 87th Street, on Nov. 30, at 11:45 a.m.
• 11100 Block of South Michigan Ave on Dec. 1, 2022 at 12:25 p.m.
• 7500 Block of South Stoney Island Ave on Dec. 8, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
• 11100 Block of South Michigan Ave on Dec. 8, 2022 at 11:45 a.m.
• 1700 Block of West 119th St on 27 December 2022 at 11:44 a.m.
• 7500 Block of South Stoney Island Ave on January 9, 2023 at 1:05 p.m.
• 800 Block of West 115th St on 19 January 2023 at 1:36 p.m.

The suspects are described as male blacks, 15 t0 40 years old, between 5-feet-9 inches and 6 feet tall. Vehicles spotted near the robberies are a dark gray or black pickup truck, a silver Chevy Impala, a gray 4-door sedan, and a blue 2020-2023 Audi SUV.
