White Woman Walks for Miles in Chicago to Apologize to Black America

'Black America, I'm Sorry,' reads Blue Island woman's sign in black neighborhoods on the South Side.

Chicago, IL - A white woman from Blue Island says she is doing her part to calm racial tensions in Chicago.

For about 20 miles a day on the South Side of the city, Laurella Willis walks with a sign stating “Black America, I’m Sorry.”

“I don’t want to continue to see black Americans being oppressed, and held down and killed like animals,” Willis told CBS Chicago recently as she was walking with the sign on 87th Street in a predominately black neighborhood.
