Would-Be Armed Robber Fatally Shot in the Head by Man He Tried to Rob: Cops

The licensed gun owner also was shot in the hip during a fight with the 19-year-old man who tried to rob him last week.

CHICAGO, IL — A 19-year-old was fatally shot after he allegedly attempted to rob another man last week in the Chatham neighborhood, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Police said Andre D. Lacaze, of Riverside, allegedly pulled a gun on and tried to rob a 23-year-old man at around 1:54 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, in the 8200 block of South Ingleside Avenue, the report stated. The two began fighting until the would-be victim pulled out his own gun and shot Lacaze in the head, the report added.

Lacaze was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:25 p.m., according to the Sun-Times.

The 23-year-old man, who has a license for his gun, was shot in the hip during the melee and was taken to and treated at Stroger Hospital, the report stated. He was not charged in the shooting, the report added.
