STOMP Returns to Springfield January 5 (springfieldherald.news) — STOMP is coming back to Springfield for a single performance at the UIS Performing Arts Center on January 5, with tickets available through the UIS Ticket Office and online. Local residents can buy tickets starting September 11, while Broadway subscribers and FRIENDS members get earlier access, making this a high-energy winter entertainment option close to home.
   

2. Springfield man pleads guilty to concealing wife's death, gun charge (wcia.com) — A Springfield man has pleaded guilty to weapons and concealment charges after his wife's remains were found in a trash can last November. Court records show he admitted to being a felon in possession of a weapon, abuse of a corpse and concealment of a death, with sentencing now set in Sangamon County Circuit Court for early November.
   

3. Central Illinois Customer Service Association has a guest speaker coming in October (capitolcitynow.com) — Springfield's Central Illinois Customer Service Association is working to boost customer service standards across local workplaces and will host guest speaker John McHugh on October 8 for a "Purpose and Compassion at Work" event. The volunteer-led group regularly brings national speakers and training opportunities to Springfield, aiming to make the city the friendliest in Illinois for both workers and customers.
   

4. Much work to do on police / community relations, says Springfield Black Lives Matter leader (capitolcitynow.com) — Springfield's Black Lives Matter leader Sunshine Clemons is pressing city officials to fix gaps in the Springfield Police Department's online transparency portal, especially missing race data for traffic stops. She also criticized how the city has handled a resident displaced by a sewer backup, urging council members to show more empathy and accountability toward affected Springfield families.
