Duckworth Expecting 2nd Child: Report
Duckworth, who will turn 50 before her due date, will also become the first sitting U.S. Senator to give birth.

U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, 49, is expecting her second child this April, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Duckworth, a retired Army lieutenant colonel and mother to a 3-year-old girl, told columnist Lynn Sweet she and her husband are expecting another baby girl. The baby is due in April, just weeks after Duckworth turns 50.
The birth will be another first for Duckworth, who will be the first U.S. senator to have a baby while in office.
Other members of Congress have given birth, but have done so while serving in the House, Sweet reported.

Duckworth, who made headlines last weekend when she lashed out at President Donald Trump, calling him a "five-deferment draft dodger," has been the first to do a lot of things. She was the first Asian-American woman elected to Congress in Illinois, the first member of Congress born in Thailand and the first disabled woman to be elected to Congress. An Iraq war veteran, she was also the first female double amputee from the war after losing both legs when the Blackhawk helicopter she was piloting was shot down in 2004.
She and husband Bryan Bowlsbey welcomed daughter Abigail O’kalani Bowlsbey, in November 2014.
