Get to know Illinois' alternative candidates in 2018
Upcoming series features candidates not representative of the two-party system

It is no secret that the mainstream news media gives way too much news coverage to elected officials and political candidates from the Democratic and Republican parties. As editor-in-chief of an online news website (Heartland Newsfeed), I've kept coverage of Democratic and Republican politics to a minimum other than coverage of statehouse affairs in Springfield.
As a dual attempt to educate the voters on the potential alternative choices that may be on your general election ballot this fall, I will be interviewing all third party candidates running for political offices this year. These races could range from municipal races (whatever few races are contended) to Federal legislative races.
It doesn't matter what political ideology they represent -- their voices deserve to be heard instead of being alienated and ignored by the media, hence the dual coverage by Patch Springfield and Heartland Newsfeed.

I am currently seeking recommendations for candidates to interview and also seeking questions to ask. Those may be referred to me at jake.leonard@heartlandnewsfeed.com.
